There are many instances when God is described as a graceful God in the Old Testament. Since it is a common misconception that the Old Testament God is solely a God of Law and Justice, I thought it important to list out all the verses that contradict this notion.
It all started when God showed Himself and described His own characteristics to Moses on Mount Sinai.
Then the LORD passed by in front of him and proclaimed, "The LORD, the LORD God,
- compassionate and gracious,
- slow to anger,
- and abounding in lovingkindness and truth;
- who keeps lovingkindness for thousands,
- who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin;
- yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished,
- visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations.
Exodus 34:6-7
This declaration was often repeated by other authors in the Old Testament. Enjoy.

Jonah 4:2 He prayed to the LORD and said, "Please LORD, was not this what I said while I was still in my own country? Therefore in order to forestall this I fled to Tarshish, for I knew that You are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, and one who relents concerning calamity.
Nahum 1:3 The LORD is slow to anger and great in power, And the LORD will by no means leave the guilty unpunished In whirlwind and storm is His way, And clouds are the dust beneath His feet.
